Update

Thank you to everyone for your concern and encouraging comments on my last post. Dad came home from the hospital yesterday (Wednesday) and is understandably tired, but fortunately he suffered no serious effects from the stroke. The other good news is that the doctors believe medication rather than surgery is the best treatment for him. He is still concerned about the future, because several members of his family suffered strokes, but he is determined to follow the doctor's recommendations and live as healthy a lifestyle as he can (which he did anyway!). We thank God for his recovery. The experience has been a good reminder that family is precious and that time spent with them is just as precious.

  5. Hi Rose,
I am commenting here on the posts of yours I just read on this page. I'm glad your dad is doing OK. I enjoyed reading about you watching your grandchildren. We watch our 13 month grandson one day a week while his mom works on the house she grew up in. When we take him somewhere, it takes some effort to gather everything up, and make sure he is changed, and I wonder to myself how we did it when our kids were young. We were on the go a lot, and yes, we were younger too.

I have lived in a city Nebraska all my life. Our cities are expanding and taking up more and more farm land, and I wonder how we are going to continue to grow enough food to feed everyone. I'm not sure how many families are having to sell to the corporations that don't necessarily have the best interests of the land or the health of the people consuming their products in mind.

Please excuse me for carrying on. Your post was written from the heart, and I was moved by it.

I need to read blogs from my list of people I follow more often, because when I read from blotanical, I miss some posts and blogs. Of course I have trouble keeping up there, too, because I follow so many blogs. I see you have a lot of people who comment on your posts, so I can understand why you have problems keeping up, too.

  6. My Dad also had a stroke a few years ago, and it surely is a sombre reminder to live in the moment because we don't get those moments back again. I'm so glad your Dad is doing well.

  19. Rose, Please let me add my good wishes to the others. We've been going through something similar with Salix's dad this month, although like your dad, my father-in-law is doing better and we're optimistic. I wish you and your family the best.
