But I'm back for this week's ABC Wednesday with the letter O, which represents the color Orange . . .
. . . as in Orange and Blue, the colors of my alma mater, the University of Illinois.
What better way to spend a crisp autumn afternoon than watching a college football game in a stadium with thousands of cheering fans.
Especially when you're also in the company of family.
Three generations--Dad, Son, and Grandson all outfitted in their #7 Orange jerseys.
Clapping and singing along to "Hail to the Orange" and marvelling at the feats of the cheerleaders. Unfortunately, it has been a very disappointing season so far, leaving Illini fans more blue than orange.
Orange is also the trendy color of the season . . .
. . . It's what the best dressed trees are wearing at the moment.
. . . It's what the best dressed trees are wearing at the moment.
Some great '0's there, ending in a nice Halloween feel.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures and colors!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week:-)
I love seeing the wonderful color on the leaves! and that pumpkin is so huge! you're definitely not going to find that here in Singapore.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Autumn is beautiful. The field and stadium shots are great.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful orange! It looks lovely in Autumnal scenes such as yours........ but it is the one colour that I cannot wear as it makes me look sick!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos as always.
Nuts in May
Rose, I am so glad you showed one of my favorite oranges. Win or lose, I love the Illini!! And grandson looks adorable in his football shirt.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the fall colors. They have been gorgeous this year despite the weather. I guess Mother Nature decided to give us a treat for the season.
Great carving on the pumpkin! Happy Halloween to you and I hope the grands have a great time trick or treating.
Oh my so much orange for this "black and gold" fan. Next week when you do "P", you can make it about Purdue, may alma mater!
ReplyDeleteMust say I was pulling for your alma mater when they made a run in men's basketball a couple season's back, only to lose in the finals.
ReplyDeleteBut I usually root for upstate New York's Orangemen, SYRACUSE!
Beautiful examples of orange, Rose!
ReplyDeleteYour little grandson is adorable, and I can see how much he resembles his grandma. I'll bet he's looking forward to this weekend!
Rose, I don't know how that beautiful smile didn't convince you to take the pumpkin home! There is something about his smile or maybe his eyes that SO reminds me of his grandmother! Isn't fall grand when it finally shows up...now let's convince the rain to go away for a few days! Love the pumpkin carving...Happiest of ABC Wednesdays to you! Gail
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of Ö"'s! The colour orange is also the Dutch national colour! We have the House of Orange( our Queen and family) and all our sport teams wear orange shirts, when competing with other nationalities!
ReplyDeleteOrange you the lucky one to have such a fun weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of 'O' and orange!! That is one winning smile on your grandson with the pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteRose girl (I understand the "no" thing very well ! haha)
ReplyDeleteYou have done an outstanding job on illustrating why Orange is the best colour in the world (for me .. at this time of year : )
I agree with the pumpkin rule .. if it is THAT heavy leave it alone ! haha
Your trees are BEE-U-T-FULL !!!
Joy : )
PS .. yes .. I had sugar in my coffee this morning ... can you tell ???
Your little guy at the game looks to be having so much fun! What a cute shot. Pumpkins are wonderful and you all have a great Halloween too!
ReplyDeleteLove the pumpkin! Too bad about your favorite team. I just can't get too excited about sports--even teams from my own state;)
ReplyDeleteMarnie
Rose those grandkids are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great day for a football game. We too love college ball.
Thanks for posting those pretty orange colored leaves. So far ours aren't looking as nice.
I love orange, and this is a gorgeous post with all it's wonderful variations of that nice hot colour.
ReplyDeleteLove the pumpkins and that's a good rule. Oddly, when we carved pumpkins with my niece and nephew when they were small, neither was drawn to big pumpkins! Orange is my favorite color, but we'll have to agree to disagree about the relative fun of attending football games. I've lived in Ann Arbor 20+ years and have attended the sum total of 1 U-M football game, one EMU (college next door) football game, and 1 Detroit Lions football game. Thay's *more* than enough for my lifetime! Now soccer is another matter, but we have no team!
ReplyDeleteGood colour: orange. It's also the national colour of the Netherlands, so you are in good company...
ReplyDeleteDear Rose,
ReplyDeleteWonderful orange....
It is my favorite color in October.
I also have a bit of orange today.
BOO!
Sherry
What a cutie! How fun that your university color matches the most gorgeous foliage in your area. Terrific show for “O”. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trees and
Beautiful children :)
Great pictures and the perfect choices for the letter O. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices for O Rose - I like grandma's rule :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rose....lovely 'O' post....so colourful, bright and autumnal.
ReplyDeleteYou could have got Sophie to help with the huge pumpkin!!! I am sure she could come up with a way to get it home.
The trees are lovely....we have wonderful colours this year. Don't you just love autumn.
O, this is a super post - beautiful sites and folks and color and Omy! a spooky Octoberish feel!
ReplyDeleteI love the carving on the pumpkin. That's a beautiful jack o'lantern
ReplyDeleteThat game sure looks like a lot of fun! And who doesn't love a pumpkin no matter how old they are
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your comments; I'll try to get back to reply later and to visit everyone. But I've spent all day on the couch--possibly the H1N1 flu. Believe me, it's no fun!
ReplyDeleteI believe your O's made up for not having an N last week. Beautiful photos. I don't allow orange/blue in my house (Auburn's colors) but I'm cool with Illinois!:)
ReplyDeleteGreat tree photos! And I'm sorry for you that the Illini have struggled so much! I have many fans in my family as well, and it's been a rough one!
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I hope you do't have the dreaded plague, but it seems to be sweeping through the area!
ReplyDeleteBut, as one alum to another:
"Hail to the Orange,
Hail to the Blue,
Hail, Alma Mater, ever so true..."
Can't say that I'm on board with you cheering for the Illini Orange (Saluki fans never wear that color unless they live in FL), but the orange pumpkins are just the ticket! Have fun with the GKs, Rose!
ReplyDeleteI love Grandma's rule! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that third tree picture, with all the trunks! I tried to get several like that on our recent travels. The aspens are particularly lovely with their black trunks and bright leaves, aren't they?
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteOrange and blue are the colors of my univ. alma mater, too, but for a different school: The University of VA. I enjoyed all of the photos and especially was drawn to the foliage one with the tree branches! Very striking!
What lovely trees! I love the colour orange. Your pics are great, but it's the grandkids who have stolen the show! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOverdue or not, it's obvious you're over the top with this post, Rose, perfect for the occasion. I'm of the opinion that you did not not overlook 'one' orange autumnal thing! (The children are ad-OR-able!)
ReplyDeleteYou found lots of awesome orange things! I am impressed with the pumpkin carving. Well done!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the letter 'O' timed out perfectly for this week. :) Happy Halloween Rose to you & yours!
